Accommodation
Our community is based in a large country house, formerly a hotel. Situated in 8 acres of land with commanding views over beautiful Welsh countryside; the grounds are well utilised by the community for recreation, education and informal therapeutic time. We have comfortable living space for 9, the young people are cared for in three seperate groups, each group having their own lounge.
Living accommodation comprises two large lounges with television, DVD player, music and computers a studio kitchen / dining lounge with television, DVD player music and computers. A particularly large dining area, boys’ wash room, secure office accommodation including staff wash rooms, a large kitchen and a utility room. There are twelve en-suite bedrooms of which three are studio accommodation, comprising of sitting area, kitchen and bathroom. These three provide independent living for those, in Omega group who are undertaking independence and leaving care programmes. Each young person living there is allocated a weekly budget for food etc and receives budgeting advice and independence training.
The main office is situated adjacent to the dining room and the kitchen area to give it a good central location. Within the office is a securely locked room where the medical cabinet is kept together with individual storage for the young people’s case files and confidential records. The keys to the main office are held by the senior member of staff on duty.
We have a separate large school building in the grounds. The school comprises four classrooms, art room, a CTD room, a horticulture room, a quiet room for the students, a student’s washroom, kitchen, an office for the Head of Education, a staff room, and staff washroom.
We have an outstanding activity Hall incorporating a table tennis table, a pool table, a football table, a stage for drama and music, a plasma screen television together with various other games and musical instruments.
The extensive grounds provide plenty of space for sports, bike riding, barbecues and other relevant leisure activities. Additionally the use of leisure facilities within the local and wider communities is encouraged and practiced with appropriate supervision.
